About the Home and Farm
This home is one of the 7 "Hill Homes" of Rockbridge County. It was built by the Grigsby family circa 1820 of bricks made on the farm. It is a classic 2 over 2 style with a center hall and staircase. There is a  family cemetery that stands on a knoll looking down on the house. The farm is approximately 360 acres and is a mixture of pasture, woods and hills. No Hunting is allowed so you may see lots of wildlife and birds in the pastures, woods, creeks and ponds.

What a lovely spot in such an historic and interesting part of the country!   Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome to your beautiful Rose Hill Farm during my recent trip to Virginia.   The home was so warm and comfortable and the surrounding hills and landscape so stunning .... only problem was my visit wasn't nearly long enough!
It is a rare and very special treat to be able to stay in such a farmhouse and really added a "total immersion" dimension to the experience of visiting the many nearby historic and important venues which are so closely tied to the early history of our country.
I look forward to returning to Rose Hill so that I may have more time to simply enjoy the sights and sounds of "living" on such a splendid historic farm  as well as continuing to explore the area!   Thank you for opening Rose Hill up for others to experience and enjoy.

We visited Rose Hill Farm for our daughter's graduation from Washington & Lee. The setting is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed sitting outside under a large tree to watch the sun set. The property is minutes from the town of Lexington and is an ideal place to stay when visiting the area. We loved it.

We (5 adults) had a wonderful time at Rose Hill Home from November 18, 2011 to November 20, 2011. From the day I started to reserve the farm house, the owner Carolyn was very hands on. She emailed me several times about useful information around the area. The farm house is nicely remodeled with old world charm. Very neat and clean. The farm house is very close to historic down town Lexington, VA, Natural Bridge, several Antique Malls, and a Super Wal-Mart. I really loved the remodeled kitchen and we cooked both nights. They have all the equipment you need, so all you have to bring is just groceries! It was a nice and calm treats for a busy family from DC Metropolitan area. We would definitely come back!!
